In preparation for studying next year I have updated this blog with links to other interesting blogs and also I have started a page for Occupational Therapy related events, although it will be a task in itself keeping it up to date I think it will be beneficial to all, not just me. So if you know of any blogs or events that you think should be listed, please let me know!

I have also been reading some interesting articles and blogs lately and thought I would share some of the them.

Best Careers of 2009 – This article has a special place in my heart. It was this article that open my eyes to occupational therapy. Admittedly at first, I didn’t consider occupational therapy, I actually chose genetic counseling but after soul searching came back to this list and researched occupational therapy. At the end of this year they will bring out the Best Careers of 2010 (I assume), and I am sure it will be back on there next year! Click here for the direct link to their info on occupational therapy. I want to add here that I am not American however believe career forecasts like these are more or less universal.

(B)e(LO)n(G) OT – I haven’t read through everything on this blog yet since it has been updated frequently since 2007! However she has done a wonderful job of keeping an interesting blog of her experiences of being an OT student and now an qualified OT. Congrats on graduating!

The Daily Reviewer – It’s often hard to distinguish which “top blog” sites are reputable however I have found a few good ones through this site. It changes daily so check back, if you want to see others.

Medbloggercode – This is a list of blogs that have been submitted and successfully meet the code of ethics. A lot of bloggers (and patients) use this site to get a ‘code of ethics’ badge on their site. It shows a list of them, so you can view the ones that interest you.

TechnOT – An interesting blog I have been reading, it’s about the use of technology in OT and healthcare in general.

That’s my update for today. Hopefully I can share more interesting sites soon!

Welcome! I am starting this blog as a way to share my experiences of Occupational Therapy.

I have applied to begin University in 2010 to study Occupational Therapy and since making the hard choice to quit full time work and attend university I have been researching this career. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of information out there on Occupational Therapy however compared with other professions so I thought I would start a blog about my experiences as I learn more about the profession.

At the moment I’m currently waiting to hear if I have gotten into university. I live in Sydney, Australia and the new uni year starts in February/March 2010. I completed high school in Scotland in 2005 so I have to wait to see if my qualifications, when transferred, are enough to get me into the course I want to start. Depending on the university decision, on December 10th I will either find out I am in, I have been declined or I have to wait until the current school leavers have their results and then I will be considered then which means having to wait until January20th.

For now I have to wait, but hopefully I will soon have good news and can share my journey.
